Caroline Polachek of surreal pop duo Chairlift visited the agency at 111 Fifth Avenue to answer a series of questions ranging from the pronunciation of the song title “Amanaemonesia” to the Dior appointment of Raf Simons. Together with bandmate Patrick Wimberly Caroline released Chairlift’s second album Something (Columbia) in late January and since has been active in its promotion. Live alternate versions of “Sidewalk Safari” and “Met Before” have been recorded and released since last autumn, thereby giving the songs an added layer of richness that is otherwise beyond the industry-wide practice of the remix. Chairlift are already setting their sights on their next album, which Caroline promises will be more “alien sounding” with lyrics that are more “sexually confrontational” than their previous records. Caroline wears a Mandy Coon top, vintage trousers, VPL boots, and a necklace by Lady Grey.
