New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie vetoed his state’s bid for same-sex marriage equality on Friday, but Maryland passed the bill by a narrow majority, on the same day, making it the eighth US state to do so. The West African country of Liberia is considering a law which would make same-gender sexual relations punishable by death or life in prison. The bill has been proposed by the wife of ex-leader Charles Taylor, who was indicted for war crimes in Sierra Leone. Although a number of UK Premier League clubs signed up to tackle homophobia recently, only 16 out of 160 clubs have agreed to participate in the ‘Football v Homophobia Campaign’ which started Saturday. A government spokesperson called the teams’ reasons ‘mealy mouthed’. It’s been revealed Whitney Houston was due to appear in an anti-bullying campaign the day she died.
